15 inch late 2013 MacBook Pro shuts down when left idle

If I am working my laptop will not crash or shut down however if I leave it for more than 10 minutes it will shut off completely. I recently installed a new battery and have set my battery settings to "never" turn off the display while plugged into power, wake for network access. I have not selected "enable power nap" or "automatic graphics switching.

I am running macOS Big Sur version 11.7.10

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013)

2.3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7

6 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

120 GB available on a 500GB drive.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 11.7

ok that shuts off one possible explanation.

It seems possible yours is a battery-rated issue. Do you think it is battery related. ?

--------

There is one other thought, not a correlation. The Macs that came after yours, but used a very similar Intel processor, MacBook Pro mid 2014 15-in models, sometimes suffered from narcolepsy. If you left them alone with nothing to do, they would power off.

There was a hobbyist selling a hokey 'MacBook Pro noCrash Utility' for US$10 [ack, still available!] that purported to provide just a little more for the processor to do, so it did not die. That author suggests your Mac is among those possibly affected.

A better solution was to connect an Ethernet adapter. Whether you ever attached an ethernet cable did not matter. Just having the adapter present gave the Mac just enough to do so that it stopped dozing off.
