Books and Translate function poorly now

I read Spanish eBooks while also running Translate on iPad split screen. (1) Books used to have an “open in Translate” option but now it doesn’t. Now I have to copy from the book and then plug it into Translate, a new and annoying four-step process instead of the former one-step. Apple should add the Open in Translate option back into Books.

It’s now working. The translate option is now visible after I highlight the selected words.

I have never used split screen, but I read books all the time in different languages and when I select some text there is always a Translate option that comes up in the bubble menu that appears. Sometimes you have to tap the edge of the bubble to see all the options. Normally I use the "lookup" option which uses the bilingual dictionary provided by Apple.

Thanks for confirming the issue. Un animal sauvage was the first book that didn't work. The last book I read that worked was La Tresse by Laetitia Colombani. I will reach out to the author of Un animal sauvage to let him know. I found out about the book from a French learning podcast that interviewed him. It would be ironic that students of French language would not be able to translate his book. Maybe the book can be re-launched or something.
