There is an option for messages using icloud.

My point was that the directions you provided for an iPhone don't work for an iPad or a Mac as the settings are different. And, turning off iCloud Syncing for Messages doesn't turn off iMessage. It only turns of the sycning those messages between all fo the devices. And, I'm just guessing here, but I think the OP actually wants to enable iMessage but is having trouble doing so.

Turning off imessages sends you to sms.

Yes, go to Settings>Messages>iMessage and turning it off means that the phone will use SMS, not iMessage.

Does the user have cellular signals?

How would I know?

On an iPad, the switch for iMessage is in Settings>Messages.

The solution I provided is from the iPhone itself which should work with either Macbook OR iPad. Any futher help is greatly appreciated.

Well, except for the fact that there is no "Phone" option in Settings><account>iCoud>Apps Using iCloud on a Mac or iPad. And, on a Mac and an iPad, iMessage isn't connected to a phone number.

The original poster is asking about an iPad.

This will remedy the notification issue. Apple should make it easier to remove certain applications from one device or another including messages. Good luck.

The also didn't mention a "notification issue". Perhaps you meant to post this in a different thread?

Hi,

Toggling imessages on iPad or Mac doesn't work for me at least. I don't have imessages in application for preferences since update. Unsyncing a device from an account causes several re-attempts to login to the account repeatedly. There should be an easier way to remove messages or any iphone data syncing application to a different device. The solution I provided is from the iPhone itself which should work with either Macbook OR iPad. Any futher help is greatly appreciated.
