Semi-monthly option on iCal

Is it really 2024 and there is no option to set up a semi-monthly recurring calendar event in the calendar? There’s a bunch of options….but not semi-monthly.

Hi 7thTreeImagesDotcom. I don't see how this can be possible in one event; there isn't such a thing a standard month. Calendar needs to calculate the forward occurrences on predictable quantities and it can't do this when months can be 28, 29, 30 or 31 days in length. The nearest you will get to this is a fortnight, and even then there are some occasions when a month will have three occurrences of a fortnightly event. This will be when the first one falls on the first, second, or third day of a 31 day month, such as repeating on the 1st, 15th, and 29th of a month.

There is one solution though, and that is to have two events sharing this task - one one the first date of the month you wish to have it occur, and a second event on the second date - and make each of them monthly repeating events. It's not perfect, but it works.

Otherwise, you will have to continue to choose from known quantities: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly and the regularity of each of these factors - such as for example every 2 weeks, 14 days, one month, and so on.
