Screen Mirroring no longer supported with Sonoma

I have a macbook pro from 2021 and one of the first generation iPad PRO's, I used Sidecar to use my iPad as a second screen near flawlessly for 3 years, all of a sudden an update comes out and my device is no longer compatible, how does this make any sense?

Support is supposed to call me, I have made 3 appointments and they never call

disappointed in apple big time

p.s. please do not respond with "upgrade your iPad..." I literally only use it as a second screen.
