Can we not watch all things with Spanish subtitles?

We are trying to watch an English movie from 2009… I am struggling to get Spanish subtitles.

Are we not at a point where Apple can make ALL movies available in any language subtitles?

Please help if I am wrong…..I hope I am wrong.

I feel like my Apple TV should be able to translate any show/movie into Spanish subs….

please advise.

iTunes Store movies are supplied by the originating studios (Universal, Warner Bros, Paramount, 20th Century Fox, etc.), and they include subtitles as they see fit for each country or region (it can differ by country). Apple currently doesn’t seem to mandate any language availability for this for any country or region.

It seems that many studios take more responsibility for inclusion in the last few years, but are reluctant to alter their back catalog.

There is no automatic live translation, and responsibility for errors would be a nightmare. Professional translation services are a skilled craft at a cost. The studios have to choose to hire them.
