comcast email

IN Dec . my email address for 25 years started asking for my password. it would work then start asking every time I used my email...on my Mac only.

when I went on the comcast site to find out if comcast was the problem. they said there was a data breach and i needed to change my password.

This one email address is same i use on my Mac email and same on xfinity ID and email.

I noticed later that they used a backup email that i gave comcast 'just for a backup' to change the password on. I called them and said NO i want my new password for my comcast.net email NOT the backup gmail address. So comcast put my listed emails on their site for the address I wanted BUT it still had my 'backup address listed as the address.

In the meantime , i updated my mac to 14.2. I had some clinches but Apple support call was VERY helpful and my mac is running great.

So with Mac working great I still couldnt access that one comcast email. The gmail is fine but the '2nd ' comcast email recieves but cannot send....I have called comcast talked to someone who didnt really know what to do about my comcast email address that now my mac mail kept saying , Cannot verify ID or password. I have tried new account with pop settings i have misspell id , i have called comcast for help. They want you to go thru their automated system first on line and after many times of asking for an agent they had someone call. I deleted my email address on mac with hope of adding new but NO matter what it keeps saying cannot verify . Comcast said they would call back in one hour but never did.

Thankfully, i can still see and send the email address in question on my Xfinity site ONLY. It scary that Comcast offers no help for problems ....i guess i will keep trying them?

Welcome!

I believe you have accurately assessed the situation. We are other end users like you, not Apple, and your only help here would be if someone who is also a Comcast user stumbles across your post.

You posted in a little-viewed forum section for asking about using the forum software. Not your fault. I am asking the moderators to move this to the Sonoma forum where you will get more views and have a better chance of another Comcast user "stumbling" upon the question.

New User Tip:

There are too many forum sections for various Apple products and service for us to memorize. However, having the forum site map bookmarked can make finding the right section much easier. Apple seems to hide the site map three layers down, but this is a direct ink you can bookmark: Site Map - Apple Community

I use another email provider other than Comcast but I do also have a Comcast account because it's free. Suddenly I could no longer send or receive emails. Nothing else has been changed or altered which might cause anything. I carefully checked my passwords and finally deleted and recreated the Comcast account in my email app which normally solves such problems. No luck Yes, dealing with Comcast is difficult beyond belief. It just isn't worth my time to deal with the issue. I can still access the web site with a browser, so that is where I've left it.
