I haven't figured out how to get the HomePod mini to play specific music from my phone. It has all of my music, but Siri just picks out some random song that she wants to play. I bought the HomePod specifically to play my playlists, but I have had no luck. Is there a way to do this?

You can AirPlay content from your iPhone, but for best results with HomePod you also want an Apple Music subscription which will give you access to all of your playlists via Siri, along with anything else in the Apple Music catalog on demand. Without a subscription Siri on HomePod should be able to play from your unhidden purchase history.

Even if all of your content was purchased from the iTunes Store, Siri on HomePod still wouldn't be able to access your playlists unless you have a subscription to Apple Music.

Thanks so much for this information. It is very helpful to understand what is going on. Once I figured out how to use AirPlay, I had no trouble playing playlists. I appreciate your help! Over the years I have downloaded all of our CDs to my Mac so much of our music is music that wasn't purchased from the iTunes store and a lot of that music is in my playlists. It sounds like that may be one reason why Siri doesn't recognize my playlists?
