what version of Logic are you using?
Looks like you're using Mac 10.12? I opened logic on one of my older macs with 10.14, Logic 10.5.1 and opened the Logic Songwiters Template. I see the Steinway Grand Piano track. The reason it does not have an "I" or input is because it is a software instrument and not able to record audio. You can hook up a midi keyboard and it will play that instrument. Also if you look at your Library while you have Apple's Steinway selected, you'll see the full list of instruments that you have downloaded. You can select any other keyboard or whatever instrument you had downloaded. See Pic.
Let's say you want to create an audio track for you to record the sound of the Steinway from your own keyboard.
Click on the plus sign above the track headers. Select Audio and your inputs. Usually 1 and 2. Now you have a new audio track that has an "I" on it so you can monitor. But when you look at your library with an Audio Track you'll see a much smaller list of patches available. These aren't really instruments or sounds, but rather a preset of plug-ins that could be used on your recorded keyboard audio. You could use one of the piano patches or you could have some interesting effect if you record your Steinway sound from your keyboard, but use one of the guitar patches with a lot of distortion. The thing is you can record your audio keyboard without any plug-ins and the pic one of these template patches to experiment with the effects.
