Mac book air security

I have just got my first Mac book air laptop. .what settings do i

need for the firewall . And do I need any external security

ie ( Norton). I have been using a iPad for the last five years

so I am struggling a bit with the Mac book.

Most of the apps I use are not on the Mac book.

Correct. The iPad and the Mac use different operating systems. App for one are generally not directly supported on the other. The exception to this is if its an Apple Silicon Mac (M1, M2 , M3) and the app developers have allowed the apps to run on the Mac. Then they should be available for download from the Mac App Store under your purchase history.
