How to remove items in Allow in the Background After Migration

Hi, I just did a file migration from my old mac to my new mac and I have a bunch of background items in the list below. None of these apps are installed on my new mac. Could use some help on removing them.

I check the below locations and there was nothing in there

  • Library/LaunchDaemons
  • /Library/LaunchAgents (for items that affect all users)

Appreciate any help!

Predicated on the computer in question is as per user by-line " iMac 24″, macOS 14.2 "

This could be an Apple Silicon Computer ?

There is a way to eliminate the pesky " bunch of background items in the list below. "

Use the Erase All Content and Setting

This will only remove the User Account and All that it contains

It does Not Touch the Operating System itself

You can use Setup Asset on Only the First Reboot post the above procedure

Then, Only choose your User Account and nothing more

Download all Applications New from the Apple Apps Store or Directly from the Developers

You could setup the existing TM Backup and Restore Only Personal Files

~/Library/LaunchAgents

You can paste this location at Finder > Go > Go to Folder.
Alas, with the UI in Ventura, Apple also introduced a new way to deliver launchd tasks. They don't have to be in one of those 3 special folders anymore. They can literally be anywhere now.

They can be anywhere. The Dropbox, Google, LastPass, and GotoMeeting apps also typically stores files in the users LaunchAgents folder and the OP claimed the other 2 were checked.

It actually makes sense to have the launchd process removed when the Application is deleted, but the OS should probably restrict the process from being added to only apps in the Applications folder. Then we can get rid of those 3 dreaded system folders.

They are most definitely installed on your new Mac. Otherwise, they would not be in that list.

Most likely, you did not properly uninstall these apps on your old Mac and they were migrated. Don't feel bad though. Uninstalling these kinds of system modifications on a Mac is crazy difficult, sometimes flat-out impossible. Many developers simply don't bother with uninstallers anymore. And various "app zappers" and "clean up" tools are extremely popular. Alas, they don't work and, with any version of macOS in the past several years, they can't possibly work. If you try to use them on the wrong app, or if you try various other incorrect methods, the offending software will be literally baked into the operating system for all eternity, and running 24/7, completely out of control. You'll need advanced Terminals and administration skills to remove it at that point.

If only there was some way to find out what all these system modifications are that are running on our Macs...
