Pages: Asterisks after paragraph and character style names cannot be removed

MacOS: Sonomo (14.2.1) on Apple M1 chip

Pages: version 13.2 (7038.0.87)

Hello all, I've defined the style of three-tiered headings and the body text in my Pages file. Now I've got two asterisks that I cannot remove from the style.

  1. The paragraph style when I place my cursor after the first Heading 1 gets marked with a little star. It seems to come from the character style. I tried to -a. apply "None" character style; -b. apply "Heading 1" paragraph style; -c. copy and paste style from other same-level headings; -d. redefine the style as it is, and all to no avail. The star would disappear after the actions but reappear after I replace the cursor in the old place. However, when I select the heading text or place my cursor in or after it, there's no such a mark.
  2. The same with the "Body" paragraph style.

Anyone knows what is happening? I'm trying to make a procedure template for everyone to use and really don't want leave such baffling marks there. Thanks in advance.
