Automatic date update for numbers

hello,

I have a spreadsheet I update frequently. I like to put a footer with the words "last updated xx/xx/xxxx". does anyone know how to get this date to automatically update every time I make a change in the document? I don't want to remember to manually do it.

You can do it in a cell of a table

="last updated "& NOW()

If you don't want it in an existing table, you can create a table that consists of a single cell, just for this one formula.

Note that NOW or TODAY do not persist across sessions with your document.

NOW will update as you make changes to your document, but if you close the document and reopen it, NOW no longer shows the last time you made a change. It shows the time you re-opened the document.

If you want need to "time stamp" a time or date that doesn't change then you need to click a cell and go to Table > Insert Current Time or Table > Insert Current Time.
