Dictation using the shortcut or the edit menu no longer works on my Apple M1, Mac Mini. I hear the tone to start talking, but nothing happens. Concurrently, I can use the dictation feature built into MS Word while this happens, and I can similarly use my headset to make calls, which seems to confirm that my headset and mute functions are not the problem.

DOH! Webroot Secure blocks Mac Dictation. Dictation returned when I shut down WS. One can also use the "pause secure keyboard entry" accessible from the WebRoot Secure icon Mac menu bar. This problem was identified three years ago by Webroot.
