Can't relink audio file in Final Cut Pro X

This is an issue I'm having too often. I have edited a multicam project (a concert) and the sound engineer has made some changes to the audio file and sent me an updated version. The file has exactly the same name, size, channels, format, sampling, duration ... simply everything, but Final Cut Pro refuses to relink the file.

This FCPX bug is killing me.

Does anybody know any solution? I know I have already asked a similar question, but it was related to video (and it ended unsolved).

Thanks!

OK, when You are helpless, You start trying crazy things and... I found a solution.

I opened both files in TextEdit and found that the header was different. So I copied this three lines of gibberish and pasted it in the new file and .. voila, it worked!

Hi terryb,

the audio files are in WAV format and were originated in ProTools. The original file had a header like this:

RIFFÇP.WAVEJUNK@bextZPro ToolsaaiLR38IGkUk2023-12-3022:14:46Ãø

+4‚†ãÕÎîÄjZe*Nvúfmt (ĪÓminfêœXf;⁄elm1Údata≤Ú-

And the updated like this:

RIFFÇP.WAVEJUNK@bextZPro Toolsaa4PRt5KztUk2024-01-1822:27:16∏L

+4‰ŸìîÎßÄ*«e*Nvúfmt (ĪÓminf∞w‚<VJ⁄elm1Údata≤Ú-

This is the only part I have replaced and as I said, I just saved the file in TextEdit and it works.
