i am trying to use the 3D titles in my clips.
everything works fine. i can drag the title over the clip, put the text, change the size and attributes.
but am not able to move the title to the desired location by placing the mouse pointer, holding and dragging it on the screen.
it seems i am doing some silly mistake.
am i missing something? can anyone help? do they work?

Do you mean in the Viewer? Did you activate the Transform tool (select at the bottom left of the Viert, or press the shortcut Shift-T)
Please post screenshots of what you're seeing to show what you're doing where, what's selected, what the state of the Viewer is.
Whenever you drag the title itself you will see center alignments guides, not when you're dragging a title in transform
first this is a old title before couple of years which i drag and it still works.... you can see the center line alignment that gets highlighted and a square box with white lines appearing as a selection... i have copy pasted the title from an old library and it still works.
however if i create a new 3D title, it does not give the border lines and neither the center alignment line when i try to transform it. i can drag it and move around using the mouse but cannot see the border or the center alignment. and i can move around only in the transform mode.
that works, but earlier it way very very easy.
earlier it used to be that you click on the text and a yellow rectanglular outline will be formed and one just drags it. is this available?
but this will do.
does this have a better working than the previous one?

I don’t do much 3D titles. In 2D titles, dragging the actual text as you described does work (though it is subtly different from using the Transform tool). I am away from my mac now so I cannot test if it also works with 3D test for me.
that is what Luis asked me to do to move the title box in the viewer. hence i am using the Transform tool to move the title in the viewer.
without the Transform tool, i am not able to hold the title with the mouse pointer and the vertical and horizontal alignment lines are not appearing for the 3d titles.
Why is Tracker there? That’s not the normal Transform tool. Try trashing your settings.
Hold ⌥ ⌘ as you double click the library you want to open to launch the application. A dialog appears asking you if you want to Delete Preferences. If you don't do this while double-clicking your library, the application will open a default Untitled library.
will it delete the "saved format and appearance attributes"? then i would like to save them first since i have saved four such attributes.
if so, how do i do that?
then i will relaunch the library with ⌥ ⌘,

so i reset the settings the way you said. however the issue persists....

on clicking the newly dragged title, it does not highlight with a rectangle box to drag around in the viewer.

this happens only with the 360 titles
Select 360 title →Select round icon. You should be able to move the title within the viewer.
how to do alignments with this especially center alignment?
Why is it showing Transform and Tracker at the top? What are you doing?

Do you mean the window layout?
You mean the attributes of the titles. No. Trashing settings does not alter any of the content in the library, only resets the application Settings. What used to been called Preferences.
