Lost Access Privileges to My Mac Word File

Hi there, I'm now getting this message to many of my files that are stored in the iCloud: "Word cannot open the document: user does not have access privileges." I found one solution here, but it's incredibly and ridiculously complex. It seems to me that Apple created this problem with their new sandboxing system. It seems to me that they should fix this problem and not force us to go through ridiculously complex ordeals to access our own files- especially when we PAY for iCloud storage. Does anyone have a simple solution?
