imported music to iTunes

I have a lot of old cds that I want to import and play on MacBook, iPad and iPhone. I have iCloud account but not iTunes. I use to use it but over the years, I just cant keep up with the changes or the cost. Music that I imported years ago into iTunes.... some of it shows up and some of it doesnt'. I just added some music via my MacBook pro and a super drive. It shows up in the library on the MacBook but not on my phone. Will I be able to access? Is there another way to play my own music?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 14.2

Your post is a bit confusing.

iTunes is and has always been free. There is no cost to it.

If you mean the Apple Music subscription service or even the iTunes Match subscription service, those are separate subscriptions, and not required to transfer your music to your iPhone or iPad from your Mac.

If you want to have the music in your iTunes library on your Mac available on your iPad o iPhone without any extra cost or subscription, you can use the Sync feature in iTunes or the Finder in new Macs running macOS 10.15 Catalina or Later.

Confusing. I'll agree with that. Ha. I do get confused. However, if I have my devices to automatically sync, and the imported music doesnt appear..... hmm. I guess I'm still confused. I am trying to pass along some old cds to a family member (older and more confused that me) that still uses a cd player but I would like to keep a copy for myself to have access to from all my devices.

I do appreciate all feedback.
