does apple recommend anti virus software for Macbook 2019 intel

No issues with my MacBook at present. I am anticipating a reduction in support for non M chip machines in the future . I am very happy with my MacBook at present.

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 14.2

No, Apple does not recommend using anti-virus apps on the Mac.

In fact, very often they are implicated in the bad behavior of Macs because they conflict with the protection already built into the macOS. Macs take car of themselves very will if you keep them updated and reboot maybe once a week or so.

No.

There are no viruses that affect macOS which makes non-Apple "anti-virus" products categorically worthless.

On the other hand there are various threats that primarily rely upon deception to convince a Mac user to install something nefarious or harmful. "Anti-virus" / "anti-malware" / "security" products that assert the ability to protect Mac users from those threats are notoriously poor at that task. Many of them are arguably malware in themselves. Don't use them.
