You can only unlock it if you know the passcode.
You can however use the Recovery option to gain control your iPod, but note that this erases all the data on your iPod and you start again as though it's a new iPod. See the following Apple article, which explains the steps required: Use a computer to reset your passcode - Apple Support.
If you didn't back up your data, it will all be lost. Apps can be downloaded from the store. Regarding any music that you added to the iPod, it should all be in your iTunes Library and can be added back to the iPod by using Sync, but you do have to treat the iPod as a new one.
