Sonoma OS for iMac install frozen

Hi, my iMac 27" (2019) downloaded the 6GB of Sonoma successfully but has frozen half way on the install. I was updating from Monterey to Sonoma and currently it has been stuck like this for 7 hours. Should I wait a few hours more or should I try and restart in safe mode? Suggestions on how to fix this problem are greatly appreciated.

I would simply restart and see where this leaves you.

If necessary you can always force quit a shutdown by holding the power button/TouchID for ~6-10 sec.

Force Shut down your Mac.
