My new MacBook Pro 14 with M3 processor and 8 GB RAM is running slow

I recently purchased a brand new MacBook Pro with an M3 chip, 8GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD. The system is running the latest version of macOS. However, I have been encountering noticeable performance issues since the initial setup. The overall system responsiveness seems slower than expected, and certain applications take longer to load or respond.

I have checked Activity Monitor for resource usage but haven't identified any specific app or process consuming an excessive amount of CPU or memory. The issue persists across various tasks, including basic operations and application launches.

The MacBook Pro is well within its storage capacity, with ample free space on the 512GB SSD. Startup items are minimal, and I have not observed any error messages or warnings. I have also ensured that the system is running the latest macOS update.

Given that this MacBook Pro is brand new, I am concerned about the suboptimal performance and would appreciate guidance on potential solutions or diagnostics to address the issue.

Thank you for your assistance.

Please run Etrecheck and post its full report here. Use the "additional text" button and paste the report into the text box.

Most of the times, performance is highly dependent on whatever software is installed and running on the machine. By looking at the report maybe we can see some red flags - are any antivirus or "cleaners" running?

I just got the m3 pro with 18gb memory and I am going to return it. It's very slow for ALL my tasks - adobe premier, DJ software, copy/pasting large files etc This is disappointing. I am going to continue to use my 2021 windows computer with 32gb ram/intel.. WAYYY faster than 18gb unified memory /M3 pro - which was supposed to be "so efficient" Apple is going downhill, not to mention I am constantly using 10gb on standby with this computer.. idk why
