I am using a MacBook Air Sonoma version 14.2.1.

I can change the folder icons on the desktop and put another image, but when I put it on my flash disk it is the classic blue folder icon. I have the item icon turned on in the display options, but it still looks like the classic folder icon. I get ''icon?'' error when I enter the folder

What file system is on the USB stick? If it is exFAT or FAT, then it is due to Apple changing the driver from a Kernel based driver to a user land driver with macOS 14.x Sonoma. Maybe it is just a temporary oversight, or it may be the new normal.
