How to find a purchased book that is missing from Apple Books History

I bought a book long time ago and now when I want to reread it it is asking me to repurchase it.

what is happening?

Check if it has been hidden: With the Read Now tab selected, tap on your Profile and look under Manage Hidden Purchases.

Books can be removed from the Book Store. If you are sure this is exactly the same book that your purchased try Apple Support.

just checked it’s not there

and it only comes up as a book to be purchased even though I know I have already bought it once
