My Canadian Credit Union debit card is in my iPhone 15 Pro wallet and it works in Canada for contactless payments. It doesn’t work in the UK. A Credit Card that’s also in my wallet works at all the checkouts where my debit card failed. Tech support at my Credit Union says it’s an Apple Pay problem. My physical debit card works at ATMs in the UK for withdrawing cash.

Merchants can impose limits on Apple Pay in regard to number of transactions and size of transactions. Please review the Apple Support article I’ve linked below for exact limits.

When you say it doesn’t work, what message do you see on the transaction terminal at the merchant?
My guess the problem is with the card company and not Apple
It’s not a limit issue. I used Apple Pay at the airport in Canada just before boarding my flight for the UK and couldn’t pay for two coffee at Heathrow after I landed.
I’m told to insert my physical card.
