getting new iphone engraved

Only the following devices purchased from Apple can be personally engraved:

"Engrave your AirPods, AirTag, Apple Pencil (2nd generation), or iPad with a mix of emoji, names, initials, and numbers. All for free. And only at Apple."

iPhone is not an item which can be engraved. It has glass on the front and back.

As written in this support article:--> Engraving and Gift Wrapping, you can only engrave your AirPods, AirTag, Apple Pencil (2nd generation), or iPad through Apple, sorry.

Take it to someone who engraves things.

You cannot. Apple does not offer engraving for iPhones.

You would need to contact a third party engraver and you risk voiding the warranty when doing this.
