I tried to load a large file of photos into Photos on my Mac. This resulted in me being unable to access any photos. When I attempt to go into Photos I get "Library could not be opened. The library photoslibrary could not be recognised. Updating library 100% complete."

You may have had corrupt files or unsupported formats. I would start over-- create a new library (option-click Photos) and import smaller groups of pictures. If it stops importing, you may have to look for the offending file.
If you're talking about a pre-existing library, then you may need to rebuild your Photos Library by closing Photos and re-launching by option-command-clicking the Photos icon.

You might also try PowerPhotos to see if it can read your library

It's always best to back things up before you mess around! An external drive would be good, but, if not, I'd duplicate the Library package and put one copy in another folder, just in case.

Thanks again. I am unable to access the file so I don't know how save them. I am speaking to someone who has helped me in the past, so hopefully he will be able sort it. Thanks for your help.
