Microsoft provides 2 email options, one is a "read receipt" and the other a "delivery receipt".
Does Apple provide either of these in Mail?
MacBook Air 15″, macOS 14.2

Apple Mail no longer supports Read Receipts or Delivery Confirmation. For this functionality you'll want to explore third party Mac email clients like Canary Mail.
(I believe Apple removed this feature because of privacy concerns, but only Apple knows for sure).

The delivery receipt you have in your send folder.
If it was not delivered you will be informed.
The read receipt will require the receiving party to comply to the request to send you notification, most of is do not do that.

If I found out as a recipient that you were asking for or getting read or delivery receipts I would never accept another email from you. I would block you in rules. Think of how valuable a tool like that would be to spammers/phishers.
Thank you.
