can't update credit card
My credit card has expired but I can't put in the new one.
It tells me that I can't do it because there is an active subscription but there is not.

Subscriptions are active until they are fully expired. That means if you cancel one it takes time for it to expire.

Unexpired subscriptions and Family Sharing organizers must always have a payment method present. To edit the cards used for those you may need to first add the new card and make it the primary payment method before removing the old card (see: If you need to change or update your Apple ID payment method - Apple Support ).
