Universal Control Display link spontaneously disconnecting from laptop

I have a MBP M1 Pro Max connected to my 2022 Studio with Studio Display and use Apple's Universal Control settings in Display control panel to operate both machines with a keyboard and mouse:

Seemingly at random, this link breaks and the mouse will not transition to the laptop from the Studio display screen, and the top most checkbox on the control panel has become deselected of its own volition. Sometimes the proper behavior spontaneously restores itself and the mouse cursor can again travel to the laptop screen. Often, there is no evident cause for this symptom to appear, with one exception:

When I try to manipulate the Music app interface on the laptop in any fashion I find that this will trigger the disconnection symptom. (note: trackpad continues to work on the laptop but can't push the cursor beyond the screen border). I find that if I fuss around within and toggle the control panel display settings, I can sometimes restore the expected behavior, but not always.

It's a tremendous feature when it's working and l love not needing to use a KVM to get the functionality, but am very curious why it's so glitchy. I had hopes that the 14.3 MacOS update might have fixed a bug like this, but not so. I welcome insights from those who have them.
