Recurrent kernel panics Mac mini M2 Pro

Starting about three weeks ago, one or two kernel panics a week. Last ten days, more frequent. Now, several kernel panics per day. Computer is set to never sleep, sometimes kernel panics occur when the computer is unattended. Other times, sudden shut down in the middle of typing.

I just did an EtreCheck Report, and two major issues are kernel panics and high CPU usage. If I'm reading the report correctly, three recent KPs are related to Dymo software for an older LaserWriter Twin Turbo which, other than this KP issue, appears to be printing via USB correctly under macOS 14.2.1, and the high CPU appears related to Photos.app analysis. I have approximately 104,000 photos in Photo Library.

Any suggestions? Uninstall/reinstall the Demo software? Thanks very much.

Please post those six Kernel Panics here using the "Additional Text" icon which looks like a piece of paper. The Kernel Panic logs can be found in "/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports" with file names beginning with "kernel". Sometimes they may also be found in the "Retired" sub folder as well. Unfortunately I am not familiar with some of the terms/abbreviations used in the snippet of the Kernel Panic...there isn't a whole lot of information for Apple Silicon Macs yet. Hopefully the full Kernel Panic logs will help in the analysis.

You should uninstall the CleanMyMac software....even though it is not their main CMM app, they (CMM & MacPaw) have a notorious reputation on this forum for causing macOS issues. Also, unless you are using the VPN to access a school or business network, VPNs don't provide the security you think although they can be used to get around regional restrictions. You do have some software installed that I am not familiar since I'm not a macOS software expert, so hopefully another more knowledgable contributor will examine the EtreCheck report and give us an update.

You can also try disconnecting all external devices in case one of them is causing a problem. It is unusual that the Apple internal boot SSD was not listed first in the EtreCheck report. Usually the internal boot drive will be listed first with a designation of "disk0".

It never hurts to try running the Apple Diagnostics to see if any hardware issues are detected.

Hello, dear HWTech. Thank you very much for this detailed and helpful reply. I will keep your entire post in my file for reference.

I immediately uninstalled CMM app on all my computers. I updated from macOS 14.2.1 to 14.3. I changed nothing with USB, peripherals, external drives, attachments, etc. I hate to jinx it but I've not had a kernel panic in a week. If KPs resume, I'll followup again here with requested details.

Meanwhile maybe I will have time to pursue a hobby after all. Smile. Thank you again.
