Mac M2 Sonoma 14.3 password field looses focus after sort amount of time

When I try to enter the password to log in password field looses focus when I still typing and I hear beeps. It occurs every time since major version update I guess half a year ago.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 13.2

Following up: static wallpaper didn't help.

If I wait for my external monitor to come up (display showing wallpaper at least), then the keyboard problem goes away. While the monitor is coming up, something sporadically interrupts the keyboard reading process, so characters are ignored causing beeps.

The same thing happens to me when I'm logging in after my M2 Macbook Pro running Sonoma 14.3.1 has gone to sleep. After typing a random number of characters, I hear a beep and the last character I typed is lost. If I'm careful I can type the character again and log in successfully. If I type really slowly I can avoid the beeps.

My external keyboard and external monitor are connected through a dock attached to the Macbook USB port. I need to test more carefully, but I think that after the second monitor wakes up (which takes 5-10 sec) the problem doesn't happen. I was running dynamic wallpaper and have just switched to static to see if that matters. The problem did not happen until I upgraded to Sonoma recently.

The problem does not happen on my M1 Mac Mini running Sonoma 14.2.1. It has a single monitor and keyboard plugged directly into the Mac Mini. It is configured with static wallpaper.

Can't duplication this issue.

Running 2 M2 Computers and 1 M1 Computer all upgraded from Ventura to Sonoma 14.0 and every newer version including 14.3

I guess we are talking about different things.

In my case I am at the locked laptop willing to log in. I see screensaver with the password field below. I type my password in it. I see points in the password field as hidden characters. After a few milliseconds I here beeps because focus (in terms of HTMP page elements) is lost by password input element. This is the problem - password input element looses focus.

Absolutely Correct

Except it is not screensaver but desktop wallpaper

I can put the computer in Lock Screen or I can Cold Boot the computer from Off Position

If from Lock Screen the operating system is loaded and keyboard or mouse function

I can move the mouse to any position including to Log In box and type in the password

From the Off Position, can do just about the same thing as in Lock Screen

So I do not fully understand why and how your computer is losing the ability to type in the password in either of the above scenarios

There is no other element on the screen to focus on ( as in view )
