I've lost all of my WhatsApp contacts after updating to iOS 17.3

After updating to iOS 17.3 (worst update ever), all my contacts from Whatsapp are lost.

I tried everything with Apple telephone support as well.

Restart iPhone
Restart by pressing volume up, volume down, restart
Whatsapp settings (contact permission off and on) restar iphone
iPhone settings (contact permission off) restar (on) restart again - Nothing happened
Logout and Login icloud with restart of iphone
Reset everything - from scratch and start with icloud backup...

Now several friends are telling me they have the same issue.

Also exchange mail is not connecting on automatic settings...

Can someone help, since the support is pretending they dont know this is happening...

Contact Whatsapp support. Whatsapp is not an Apple product and app developers are responsible for keeping their app s compatible with iOS versions.

No, you'll need to wait until Whatsapp updates their app. And Apple has no control over that. Meta has been pretty lax about updating their software lately.

But still cant understand why works on some iOS and others dont...

Apps often have to be modified to work with changes in the OS. That's one of the reasons that Apple provides beta software to developers for testing.

If Whatsapp developers didn't properly update their app for iOS 17.3, bad things can happen. But it's still Whatsapp's problem to fix. They had access to the beta for at least a month. Apple can't force developers to keep their apps properly maintained. Nor can they do anything about an app that doesn't work after an update.

This makes sense. Probably they have to wait apple update the system and then send an update to the appstore, which takes several days to be approved.

But still cant understand why works on some iOS and others dont... but Im not a developer as lkrupp above which seems to be an expert and not willing to help.

Anyway, thanks Idris, i will keep an eye on updates.

The Mail problem i solved with another option (instead of exchange, using outlook option).
