problem with downloading google chrome files while icloud macbook desktop active - disappears, impossible to find

Whenever I download something on google chrome, it disappears. nowhere to be found, including looking for it the icloud files. sometimes it randomly will save to my directed location (desktop), i click on it and it will say file is invisible. my chrome is up to date.

when i click on the file in chrome download it will open in chrome but i need it on my desktop. i click on show in finder, its darkened out in iclouds desktop, i try to move it to my desktop and it doesn't move/show on desktop.

ive tried saving it to a random location in my computer but icloud still seems to be taking it from me.

i turn off icloud and desktop and everything becomes messy; chrome will act normal again, but i need icloud on.
