Buying new iPhone / iPhone activation date

Hello everyone. I wanted to buy iPhone 15 Pro Max in local phone shop in my city but before I asked the seller for serial number to check. This is very suspicious to me. How the one can say activate your device and shows purchase date ( december 2023 ) if it isn't activated yet, and other one just says activate your device without showing the date. I didn't bought it yet because i wanted to double check to not get scammed. Both boxes are sealed but I saw that it also can be repackaged and sold as new so I'm asking for help. Thanks to everyone !

In addition to what was said earlier, any warranty started on the date the item was sold by Apple to your retailer. One month has already passed so that is not too bed, but you may wish to note that and request a small discount.

The purchase date is not related to the activation date. It would appear that phone was originally purchased from Apple or an authorized dealer in December 2023.

The other thing you need to keep in mind is that the warranty is only valid in the country where it was originally sold.

I’d be willing to bet money this gray market phone you’re looking at was not sold in your country.
