Can't add cards (visa/chase & amex) to Apple Pay *only* on Macbook

My macbook is updated; i've signed in and out of icloud; I've ensured my cards, phone number, and all factors are set to USA; I've called my card issuers--- nothing changes the fact that trying to add cards to my macbook (the same ones perfectly functioning in my iPhone & iPad apple wallet) gives me this message: "Card could not be added, try again later or contact card issuer". Seeing online that many many many people have this problem and NO ONE has a fix. Why???

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 13.2

Just double check this setting on your MacBook Pro.

  • On your Mac: Choose Apple menu  > System Settings (or System Preferences), then click your name (or Apple ID). Click Password & Security. Next to Two-Factor Authentication, click Turn On and follow the onscreen instructions.

Yes, the computer needs to send information to the bank for the bank to verify. When the computer doesn’t receive a response from the bank, the request times out and the card is rejected. It could be a privacy/security setting or a network setting.

Have you always tried adding the card when the MacBook is on the same network? Is it possible to try adding the card from a different network? You could try restarting the router for the WiFi network.
