Interesting animation on my Apple Watch?

Just recently I had looked down at my watch for the time and instead I saw an animation I’d never seen before.

First it showed a grey Apple Watch shape and a grey iPhone. Then they moved to where the watch was under the iPhone at the bottom where the charging port would be on the phone. Then it switched to two grey Apple Watches moving close to each other with both screens facing each other. These two animations switched back and forth twice before it stopped and my watch went back to its Home Screen.

Not sure what it was about, it kind of seemed like it was telling me to put two devices close to each other but not sure why as there were no instructions on my phone or watch to elaborate besides the animation.

I was also too confused to react to it fast enough to actually put my watch under my phone as shown in the animation before it went back to the Home Screen.

What does this mean? Should I be worried? I couldn’t find anything online about it—There was something similar where it indicated recovering your Apple Watch but it just showed an iPhone and watch side by side. This animation actually showed the two overlapping each other. I checked for updates, but both devices are up to date.

It is the Bring Devices Together/NameDrop feature. Because the devices are close together it assumes you are trying to use the feature. There is nothing to worry about despite the scary stories that kept spreading when the feature first released but if you don’t want it to be on you can turn it off.
