I have a 2022 MacBook Air M2 and yesterday the keyboard began lagging. I restarted it and now I can’t even login because the lag is so extreme. I also have a long password which doesn’t fit in the password entry box and the box isn’t adjusting to the longer password.
Try booting the laptop into Safe Mode to see if it is any better. If so, then you most likely have an issue with some third party software.
If Safe Mode has the same issue, then try running the Apple Diagnostics to see if any hardware issues are detected.
Disconnect all external devices in case one of them is causing a problem.
