Trackpad on MacBook Air controls mouse on MacBook Pro and vice-versa

I have a personal MacBook Air and and a work MacBook Pro and often have them near each other. I haven't figured out exactly when this happens but sometimes when I'm using the trackpad on my Air, the mouse cursor on the Pro will start moving instead. I can get it back on the Air by first using the trackpad on the Pro and then going back to the Air. It happens in the other direction as well. Any idea what's going on?

Sounds like you may have stumbled upon a recently-introduced feature called Universal Control.

Universal Control: Use a single keyboard and mouse between Mac and iPad - Apple Support

"Use the keyboard, mouse, or trackpad of your Mac to control up to two other nearby Mac or iPad devices, and work seamlessly between them."

It looks like there is a setting to turn it on or off.
