UPDATE: After stopping at 3 Verizon stores, I finally found one that had SIM cards available. I bought it (it’s only about $11) and replaced my SIM card, and my phone now works again!!! I would recommend shutting phone off/on, pop out/in SIM card, if that doesn’t work then call Apple Store to check your phone, then go to your carrier to get new SIM card (or call if you have a eSIM card, which apparently is only for iPhone 12 and newer). Good luck! Hopefully future iOS updates will not have this issue!

FYI!!!!! SUCCESS; I am no expert, but after hours of multiple unsuccessful calls and visits to VERIZON, 2 new SIM cards to reconnect/reinstall my (2 year old- no longer under Warranty) IPAD CELLULAR service…..Verizon tells me my Antenna is broken due to damage (you must have dropped it) or the SIM card reader is damaged and theres nothing VERIZON can do and referred me to Apple.

A visit to the Apple Store for a diagnostic test of the IPad confirmed there is no damage to the IPAD itself.

Through ideas on this forum discussion…… (THANK YOU!)

I took the IPAD OFF OF THE MAGIC KEYBOARD.

(Not certain this was part of the resolution but Ive had to take the IPAD off the Magic Keyboard to ‘unstick’ it prev. )

Turned BlueTooth off. (Not sure if this was a factor.)

Powered down the IPAD. (* Important you MUST power it off.)

Took the SIM card and SIM tray out.

Turned the IPAD back on.

Turned the IPAD back off.

Inserted the SIM card and Tray.

Turned the IPAD on and my Cellular Service was back on.

Hope it helps, soooo intensely frustrating being in Service Environments where nobody knows nothin. I was nearly ready to give up and buy a new IPAD for nothing.

I updated my iPhone XR to the latest iOS version 17.3 and my cellular service no longer works (no internet access without WIFI and my phone doesn’t receive calls or texts that are not iMessages from another iPhone, iPhone says SOS and no SIM). I turned on/off my phone and removed/reinstalled the SIM card, but nothing helped. (I’ve previously had this happen after another iOS update and removed:reinstalled the SIM card and that worked.) I called my local Apple Store for technical support from my husband’s phone and someone remotely accessed my phone to do a diagnostic and work with me to check various things, and confirmed nothing was wrong on that end. He recommended I contact my carrier next. So I’ll reach out to Verizon once they’re open tomorrow. I found this other post that may help: If you see 'invalid SIM' or 'no SIM' on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Only working solution is:

1) Switch off the phone

2) Pull out the sim slot

3) Turn on the phone without sim inside

4) Wait a bit, when it is fully loaded and says "No SIM"

5) Plug in the sim card

6) PROFIT! Sim card should start to work

PS

Sometimes just pull out and in the sim card works without reload.

Unfortunatly for me it only worked for physical sim card, everything about eSIM is dead, all esim options just disappeared from settings. And I have no option to contact apple in support app. And there is no public answers from them. "Nice service" for overprice.

i believe the latest iOS releases are blocking certain frequencies and network IDs being exchanged with your cellular service provider. That is why, iPhone keeps searching for cellular service.

I fixed this issue by getting the latest physical SIM from my cellular service provider and inserting it in my iPhone. If your iPhone supports eSIM, delete it and revert back to latest physical SIM.

hope this helps!
