Changing Alert Noise on Mac

The alert and ringtone tunes I've purchased on iTunes should be accessible to me in the System Settings on Mac to change my alert tones there, as well (like I can on my iPhone and iPad).

This is less of a question and more of a statement (or dream).

You can add sounds if they are .AIFF files. There may be other sound formats that work. You add them to the Sounds folder in your User library. Here's a shot of my User Sounds folder. Since Apple has seen fit to hide your User Library, you have to access it via the Finder's Go menu by clicking on Go while holding down the Option key.
