Transferring Cassette audion to my MacBook Pro Garage Band

I have over 75 cassettes from the 70s and 80s. I have radio shows I was involved in, promotional work with radio stations, and various artists. Also, my music from my recording in the studios. My Technics receiver, cassette/recorder, and turntable still the best. I bought back in 1978. They do not make electronics like this anymore. I wanted to use my Technics to transfer my tapes to my 2020 macBook Pro, using my Garage Band. I can not find a adapter for my Technics. It has 4 plug ins, 2 white, 2 red, that plugs into a adapter then that plugs into my USB adapter on my Mac. Do you know where I can find the adapter for my Technics? Those on line and Amazon does not have the 4 plug ins, all the same. Thank you.

Your Technics has two sets of RCA jacks. One is for input into the receiver, and one is for output from the receiver. Generally, computer adapters will be either input or output, but not both.

I assume you do not want to send signals from the Mac to the Technics. In that case, you simply need an audio line in adapter for the Mac. There are too many for me to make recommendations, but simply search for a "USB stereo audio in interface"

You might have trouble finding one with RCA jacks, but it should be no trouble getting an adapter to go from RCA to whatever inputs your interface requires.

Yeah, I know what you mean, I am just getting around to archiving all my video tapes...

Depending on how much you spend for an adapter, I am of the opinion that the adapter will have much better quality than the headphone input, which might not have the best A/D conversion. Also make sure that you don't have a "Mic Mode" turned on.

Keith, thank you for your response. I thought this, but was not for sure. My friend in the audio/radio business told me I may get better quality by running the feed from my headphones to my macbook. I am using Garageband so I can clean up any sounds from the tapes being old. I will try both ways to see what sounds best. I know this will be a long process, but, memories are important, just wish I had done this years ago. Again thank you.
