My 2012 MacBook will not allow me to update . Any reason why ?
I have an old laptop , obviously, but each time I try to update it to a new version of MacOS, it says it cannot be done. Anyone have any idea why ?

The last upgrade will likely be Catalina, MacOS 10.15. If you’re not running that you should be able to do so. You may need to upgrade to High Sierra first. See Update from Yosemite 10.10.5 to 10.15.3 C… - Apple Community
