Could not create stereo pair with HomePod Mini
I had a connectivity issue where I could not create stereo pair with HomePod Mini. I ended up having to disable the “Security Shield” on my Spectrum router to get pairing to work. The explanation for what it does is brief and doesn’t really reflect the extent of what the device is automatically doing to secure the network traffic, but it seems to restrict peer-to-peer communications. Under What’s Protected, it says “Tools also route traffic among multiple devices within a network, limiting delays and freeing bandwidth.” Hopefully this helps other people with the same problem.
Using your Spectrum Mobile app:
Click ‘Services’ —> Click ‘Security Shield’ —> Disable ‘Security’ at the bottom
My question is Does the new HomePod use the same connectivity methods as the Mini? In hotels and on some other routers, I haven’t experienced this issue. It’s just annoying to figure out what the problem is and how to fix it without understanding how it connects in the first place.
