I have water getting into my basement. The flooding can be confined to a single corner by running a sump pump outflowing to a drain. I need the pump to function around the clock. I am currently managing this manually with a smart plug and an Arlo camera.
I’m going to say, “Yes”.
It’s going to be time consuming creating 48 different automations (24 turn on’s & 24 turn off’s) though. I couldn’t figure out a way to do it in mass and then I even tried asking Siri to do it for me, didn’t work, LOL.
I don’t know if there is a limit to the number of automations a person can have. That could be an issue.
I created a half dozen to show you an example:
HomeKit water (flood) sensors are available.
Consider using one to trigger the sump pump.

The way I interpreted the author’s post was that they weren’t able to be there to add a detector. Of course the thought had also crossed my mind wondering why the leak wasn’t just fixed instead of settling up a camera, a smart plug, and a pump. I’m sure there must have been a logical explanation and one that we might have needed to be in their shoes to know.

Asking questions is just as much a skill as can be answering them. Questioners can omit details, or can forget, or can be tired or frustrated or distracted, or might never have even considered an alternative.
Here, some other possibilities…
…Or repairing the float gage found on many (most?) sump pumps.
...Or not fond of accessing a crawlspace more than necessary.
…Or replacement parts are backordered, or local plumbers busy.
