How to turn microphone off on iPhone 15 pro max

The microphone is normally off, unless you are using an app that requires the microphone such as the Phone app, an app that supports dictation, or the Messages app if you have tapped the microphone icon.
The microphone is only on when you are on a phone call. So you don’t need to turn the phone off, just don’t make or receive phone calls 😏. When the microphone is on a small orange or red dot will appear in the island “window” at the top of the screen. If there is no dot the microphone is off. If you see the dot open the Control Center by dragging your finger down from the battery and it will display the name of the app that most recently used the microphone.
In my settings I need to toggle off phone? I do think I have it toggled on but thought I needed too for phone too ring. Duh! I feel stupid but I really need advice lol.
Thank You So Much. Please let me know if I turn phone switch off in settings it will still ring? When I go to control center I don’t see option or a microphone icon.
