I'm pretty sure the trade-in value for the dead computers is nothing. I suspect the trade-in value for the working ones is, too. Check for yourself by using the "Find your trade-in value" tool here:

There is a 27" Apple 5K Studio Display. If you pair it with a M2 Pro Mac mini or M2 Max Mac Studio, and an Apple keyboard and mouse, you get the rough equivalent of a 27" Apple Silicon iMac. But the total cost is a lot higher.

I suspect what a lot of people who want 27" or larger screens are doing is to pair a Mac with a 4K display. These are much cheaper than the 27" Apple, LG, and Samsung 5K (5120x2880 pixel) displays … and macOS will let you run them in Retina modes (e.g., Retina "like 2560x1440" mode on a 27" 4K display).

You can get a tricked out M2 Mac Mini (16 GB RAM & a 1TB SSD) and a 32" LG monitor with speakers for under $1500. Or a Samsung 27" monitor with speakers for around $1600 plus tax.

Or you can get a new 24" iMac with 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD with a LG 27" second monitor for about $2020 plus tax.

Compare that with the original cost of 27.0" 2014 iMac (3.3GHz/8GB/1TB-HDD/M290) at $1,999.

Your current iMac have served you for 10 years. That's eons in computer years. The are so old that Apple considers them obsolete.
