update: it's back now, i guess servers really were just down. if anyone's reading this in the future: yes, it will resolve on its own eventually.

I got the same issue a few minutes before. However, it works now and I just retry. Seems to be an error on the Apple side.

Same here and I saw the “Me too” counter jump from 5 to 89 in just 10seconds. So probably a global outage

This is happening too me as well. Didn’t start happening until I just recently updated my phone 5 minutes ago. “Error while SRP initial authentication : Unexpected response from IDS Server” it what is says on my phone.

Same here. I was asked to re-authenticate my iCloud mail all of a sudden, and when I entered my password it is showing me this error on both iOS and iPadOS. macOS is working fine for now!! I am worried!!

I have an error message, unexpected IDMS server, not responding. My oura ring, and my watch are not talking to one another anymore. This all started since I upgraded to an iPhone 15 a couple of weeks ago.

Currently having this issue as of now in 2025, wanted to install an app but the pop-up for the Apple ID password came up and when I entered my details it showed this error. Hoping the servers will come back up soon if that's the case as said by previous replies.

I am just searching the same thing now. I noticed because I was not getting email, now it’s locked across all my devices.
