It depends on the circumstances. If your phone's battery is dead, you're not going to reach 911. If you are in some area with no cellular service at all (not even Emergency SOS service), you're not going to contact 911 that way. (A few iPhones can try to contact satellite-based emergency text services if you have no cellular or Wi-Fi signal.)


Assuming that you can get through to 911, there are some features you may want to set up that can help in case of an emergency.


In some countries and regions, your iPhone can share your Medical ID with responders during an emergency call – if you've set up a Medical ID, and granted sharing permission.


You can also set up emergency contacts, so that "if you call an emergency number, iPhone sends those contacts a notice that you’ve called for help, shares your location with those contacts, and notifies them if your location changes."
