No power to USB port on Macbook

I have a USB dongle that has worked for my external CD drive and my document scanner. They worked until my latest update to Sonoma 14.3. Now I get the attached message saying to connect to a USB port on this Mac. I think this is a Sonoma issue because I have not had problems with my devices before the update and I can use the same USB port to send documents to my printer.

Why does my MacBook M3 show 'USB Accessory Needs Power'? I have a Macbook M3 and I am trying to connect an apple cd reader/writer I used on my iMac 2013. I keep getting an error "USB adapter and get the message 'USB Accessory Needs Power' and to Connect Apple USB SuperDrive to a USB port on this MAC". I have also had the same problem hooking up a GPS to update maps and got the same error. I have tried connecting it with different USB to USB type c adapters I have even a docking station with a power source and I still get the same error. Apple used to offer an adapter, but it is no longer available. How can I get these devices to be recognized on my MacBook m3? My old iMac still recognizes them and it is out of date. Thanks! DVD player and printer USB no longer detected with MBA M1 ? Using the two USB-C of my MacBookAir 2020 M1, I could perfectly use my external SSD, a printer, a DVD/CD player and of course the external monitor. Some weeks ago that stopped only for the printer (a Brother laser) and a DVD (Samsung) which are simply no longer detected (nothing in System Information under hardware). However the SSD and monitor continue to work on the ports as before. The printer and DVD player each work perfectly with their same adapter USB-A to -C cables on another Ventura Mac, with M2 this one. I have exhausted all my known remedies : upgraded the MacBook to Ventura 13.5, put a reset to SMC and NVRAM, started once in safe mode, tried to put USB-A hubs between the USB-C ports; tried in the DVD player several disks and including blank ones to burn ; nothing will work. The DVD player powers nicely up and spins like it does elsewhere when it is recognized, only it isn't. So there should be no power issue at least. The sudden denial of detection came maybe with a recent Ventura update, I do not know which in detail. So what can be my next steps to get my DVD and printer detected ? -- is downgrading to Monterey a shot worth taking -- ?

Or, the dongle has gone bad. Not an uncommon occurrence.
